It’s No Small Sheep Show

Did you know the North American International Livestock Exposition has the world’s largest purebred breeding sheep show? There are a whopping 8,600 entries in breeding sheep, over 1,200 Market Lambs, and nearly 550 Commercial Ewes. The animals are the first to take the ring for the second leg of NAILE.

This week features the Junior and Open Purebred Breeding Sheep shows and the Junior Commercial Ewe and Market Wether shows.

Expert judges carefully evaluate each sheep, considering factors like conformation, fleece, quality, and overall breed standards. Exhibitors aim to impress the judges in hopes of taking home the coveted purple and gold banner.

The junior showmanship competitions in both the Breeding Sheep and Market Wether shows are particularly exciting. Young exhibitors exhibit their skills and knowledge in showcasing their projects to the judges. The passion and drive of the exhibitors shine bright as they present their sheep to the best of their ability.
