5 Days of Thanks: Beef Exhibitors

Published: November 22, 2017 Updated: April 19, 2024
After another successful North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE), we want to thank all of our exhibitors who make NAILE great. The show wouldn’t be anything without you, your family and your animals. On the fourth day of our five days of thanks, we want to highlight the beef exhibitors. Here are a few of the faces from this year’s expo.

Hugh Holian, 14, of Richmond, Illinois showed for the first time at the 2017 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, Kentucky. Holian has grown up showing livestock at county fairs, preview shows and state fairs for his family farm, Holian Farms. His older sister, Marie, and his father also show cattle and it’s something that the entire family love spending time doing together.

Katdakota Rouse, 18, of Parma, Michigan won her steer class at the 2017 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, Kentucky. Rouse loves showing her cattle in the Michigan Shows Program and at NAILE. Her steer, much larger than the hogs and lambs that she also shows, is a huge baby and loves to cuddle. She was even able to him to her senior photo shoot for some riding shots.

Trey Garbett, 16, of Perry, Georgia showed for the first time at the 2017 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, Kentucky. Garbett, a traditional hog showman, won his steer class at NAILE. The eight-hour trip paid off. His Mother, DeAnn Garbett, said that it wasn’t an expected accomplishment. Garbett looked at his mom as he came out of the ring and said, “Mom, did I really just do that?”

Callista Albaugh, 9, of Waterloo, Indiana showed for her first time at the 2017 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, Kentucky. In her first year, showed a heifer that was raised on her family’s Simmental cattle farm, Clifford Show Stock.

For his first year at NAILE, Crain placed second in his class. Crain’s favorite part of showing is spending time with his cows and he “loves the green shavings here at NAILE,” a signature of the annual event.

Robert Nixon, 20, of Rapidin, Virginia shows in his last junior show at the 2017 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE). As an Angus exhibitor, Nixon grew up showing in shows such as Junior Angus Nationals, Denver Stock Show and local jackpots and preview shows. With countless hours and memories under his belt, Nixon looks forward to staying involved in the Angus industry through raising Angus cattle on his family farm, Glenway Farm LLC.

Alexis Wilhoit, 11, of Lebanon, Indiana showed her heifer, “Popsicles,” at the 2017 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, Kentucky. Wilhoit is in her fourth season of showing cattle, and loves meeting all the new people at every show.

This is the first year that Albaugh has competed at the expo. She said her favorite part of showing cattle is being in the show ring and getting to set her animal up for the judge to evaluate it.

Kyle Motylinski, 18, of Ida, Michigan poses with his Crossbred steer after competing at the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE). This was Motylinski’s first time attending the prestigious expo.
