Hundreds of Thousands Flock to North American International Livestock Exposition in November

Linda Doane and Danny Bolin are no strangers to the iconic green shavings; their exquisite camera skills have played an important role in capturing the North American International Livestock Exposition for just short of three decades. Their adventures working with NAILE began in the late 90s with film cameras snapping photos that would be used for printing and newspapers. Sitting in a Freedom Hall suite turned media lounge, Bolin reminisced on the old media room where walls werecovered with film stills taken during the show. He joked about his many film processing trips to Moto Photo in the 90s.
Not originally stemming from a background in livestock, Doane and Bolin have a unique eye for capturing the essence of a livestock show from a spectator's point of view. Doane finds herself drawn to photographing the family dynamic and livestock community of NAILE, with her favorite event being the Lead Line Show.While many of Doane’s and Bolin’s photos are used to highlight the event on social media, their photography skills also play acrucial role in the set-up and safety of the Kentucky Exposition Center facilities. Each year, they capture images of the facility layout above the barns using air ducts or drones to document what changes can be made to better utilize the grounds.
